I Think I'll Go To Boston....

So guess what?? We are going to Boston! We both entered the drawing to be able to purchase Red Sox/Yankees tickets, and I was chosen. So it took more than an hour of waiting in the virtual waiting room till they randomly chose us, but we got to buy tickets! The game is May 8th, and we got tickets in section 42 (in purple).

So the seats aren't the best. We were willing to shell out the big bucks for the good seats, but this was the best available when our chance came. And it's about the experience anyways, I think. I'm just so excited for Anthony, that he gets to visit the stadium of HIS team!

I think this is approximately what our view will be... maybe a little more to the left and probably a little higher up. Let's hope it's a nice day, but that the sun is not right in our eyes!

We went ahead and reserved a hotel room near the airport and booked our flight today, so we are all set to go! I cannot wait for May to get here now!!!

Anywhere Chair

We got a new piece of furniture for our living room....

You may remember back before Christmas time, I told you that I found this Pottery Barn Kids Oversized Anywhere Chair on craigslist for just 50 bucks! To buy it online, it would be at least $140, so I was super excited when I found it. The only problem with it, was that it had the name "Alexis" mongrammed on it.

Luckily, my wonderful friend, April volunteered to make a "Bailey" patch to cover "Alexis". She is SO talented, and did a great job!

Here's Bailey showcasing April's handiwork....

Bailey loves the chair; it has really been enhancing her Mickey Mouse Clubhouse experience! :) And as you can see, it is a BIG chair, so it should last us for a very long time! Thanks again, April!

Cousin Love

Now, that Bailey is getting older, she and Zoe are having more and more fun together.

Bailey will just follow Zoe anywhere and wants to do whatever she does.

Bailey says "Zoe" now. It sounds like "Oeee". It is so cute.

I am so glad these two have each other.

Pebbles

Late last month, Bailey had her first Pebbles pigtail.

She doesn't really have enough hair on top to make it work well yet.

When Daddy came home and found her with a pigtail, he said it looked "nerdy"....

And he took it out. :(

But Mommy knows the truth. Bailey definitely gave Pebbles a run for her money.

I Love You, Harris Teeter

EDITED: I figured up my totals... the total retail value of everything was $54.24, I saved $11.99 with my VIC card, and I saved $39.04 in coupons, bringing my total savings to 94%!!!

Harris Teeter super doubles started today and I got myself over there as soon as Bailey woke up from her nap so I could make sure they weren't out of anything yet! And it paid off, big time... here's what I got...

2 cans Pacific Natural soup
1 roll of Seventh Generation paper towels
2 Deli Creation sandwiches
2 Starbucks Frappuccinos
2 packages Wholly Guacamole
2 boxes Kotex pantiliners
2 packages Borden singles
2 boxes Reynolds foil wrap
1 tube Lipsmackers lip gloss
2 packages Lance crackers
2 tubes Aquafresh toothpaste
2 tubs Land O Lakes butter
5 bananas
3 apples

All this for a grand total of.....

$3.21

I still can't believe I got all that stuff for only 3 bucks! I haven't taken the time to figure out the numbers, but that is 90+ percent savings. I am planning on going back again on Friday, so hopefully they still have some good stuff left!

On Babies

So I came across this story the other day. If you haven't already run across it, please, get your tissues ready before you read. It's long, but totally worth the time. It's gut-wrenching, heart-breaking, redeeming, falling in love kind of story. I've always kind of wondered about how it would be if I ever had a special needs child, and, as much as you love all your children, no matter what, wouldn't you be disappointed, crushed even? Just being honest, I can't imagine I'm the only one who has thought like that.

Well, I think after reading Kelle's story, I understand this so much better now. I love how she is so honest and doesn't sugar coat the hard parts. So really, go read it.

I also wanted to just share some of Bailey's new "things", though I know I won't be able to remember everything I've wanted to write.

The past three nights she has gone all night (from about 8pm to 7am) without nursing. She still wakes up, but last night she only woke up once (that I heard anyways) and only cried for less than a minute and went right back to sleep. As much as I enjoy being able to stay in bed all night, it does make me sad, as she *needs* me less and less. :( But I know, as my girl changes from a baby to a little girl, this growth brings lots of fun and exciting new things.

She is learning and pick up on so many new things every single day. She is picking up new words all the time and will try to repeat almost anything I ask her to. Her newest include:
*Baby
*Door
*Milk
*Dog
*Mommy (I just LOVE this!)
*Daddy
*Elmo
*Zoe
*and I know there are lots of other I can't think of right now!

And she's to the stage now, where even though she can only communicate so much with me, she understands nearly everything I say. She follows directions: If I tell her to go find her paci, she goes to look for it. She also knows what it means to go to bed and to go brush her teeth. Those are my favorites, but like I said, she really can follow almost any direction I give her.

With a little prodding from me, she is really starting to love and "nurture" her baby dolls. She has one she sleeps with at night and some others that she plays with during the day. I just love it when she tucks her soft baby under her arm while she is nursing or when she is laying down to sleep.

Well, I think I've hit all the highlights. I am really enjoying this age and I swear, I think I love her more and more every single day. I just don't have enough time to give her all the kisses I would like to. :)

Wedding Bells are Gonna Chime

Yep, you heard correctly.... before too long, my baby sister, Ashley,

is going to walk down the aisle and marry James...

Sorry I have no pictures of them together, or better pictures period. Haha. Oh well, you get the idea.
I am SO excited. Ashley has been trying to find the perfect man for her and Zoe for a long time, and she finally found him. James is SUCH a great guy, I'm just sad she didn't find him sooner! :) I mean, if she gave me freedom to go out and pick a guy FOR her, he is who I would pick. He is kind, fun to be around, and SO helpful. He probably has more of a servant's heart than anyone I have ever met. I know that Ashley being with him, is making her a better person, and isn't that what all relationships are supposed to be like?
And don't even get me started about James & Zoe. Zoe LOVES him. He is so good with her and takes care of her just like she was his own. Zoe actually calls him her "2nd daddy" and she has never done that with any guy that Ashley has dated. I am so glad she will have this amazing "2nd daddy" in her life as a role model of what a man should be.
Not sure when the wedding will be, but I am SO excited to to help (read: take charge!) with wedding planning. I will share details once I know them! :)

Nothing Better To Do

So I guess when you get snowed in, there is nothing better to do than bake and eat. :)

Yesterday, I made Bakerella's Peach Crunch Cake. It is, in fact, ridiculously easy, just as she says. And, oh my, is it yummy. Ice cream is a must with this in my opinion.

Click on over to the link to see the recipe and all of Bakerella's drool-worthy pictures. Here's my favorite...

And this morning I made The Pioneer Woman's Carrot Cake. I haven't eaten any yet, because it is actually a birthday present for Ashley's boyfriend James. I did lick some batter from the bowl and that was delicious so I can only imagine how good the cake will be. I plan on finding out tomorrow when we hopefully make the snowy trek over to Mom's for the day. I mean, if James wants to share, that is. ;)

Check out one of Ree's pictures of the delicious goodness. :)
