Updates

As always, we made our weekly trip out to the house to check the progress. We also had to stop by the model home, and make paint color, carpet, and vinyl selections. We made those decisions without too much trouble, and I can't wait to post the pictures when they get all that done!

Updates done this week included the sidewalk from the driveway to the house and the porch.

They also have the hardwood floors installed in the living room and hallway. Obviously, they aren't done with them yet, but it was really exciting to see our money at work! :)

They also had doors put on in the rooms.

And just a picture from the driveway. It's coming together nicely and we are extremely excited about it! Everything is in place with the mortgage, we just have to wait till the house is 90% completed for NFCU to do the appraisal, so everything is kind of on hold till then. Thanks for praying. We'll keep you updated!

Selection Time

Yesterday (Friday) we went to The Contractor Yard to make some choices. Here is the formica we picked for the countertops. It is called Colorado Slate:

We also picked out cabinets. The color is similar to what we have now, except they have an arch at the top, instead of just the typical "box" outline. We also chose nickel knobs for the cabinets, and burgandy shutters. It was fun and not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be.

Tonight, we went to the house to make our weekly check and we now have drywall! I think they really got a lot done this week and we were pleased with the progress. Here are some pictures:

This is the view of the living room and dining room from the front door. That doorway on the left is to the master bedroom.

This is the bedroom on the front side of the house with the awesome window!

And this is the view to the left of the house. There will be another house next door eventually, but it is still a beautiful area. Everytime we drive out there, I mention to Anthony how beautiful the whole area is and how much I love it.

We are still waiting to hear back from Navy Federal. Anthony is going to call on Monday and see what is going on. The contract requires that we have the loan in place by April 30. It makes me a little nervous that we haven't heard back from them, but I assume they would have contacted us by now had there been a problem. So pray that everything regarding the loan gets wrapped up this week and we get what we need to keep this ball rolling!

We Have an Address!

Hello all. Just wanted to post a quick update. Today we were notified by Bobby-Anne that we now have an address:

** Greystone Lane ** Numbers removed to protect the innocent. ;)
Waynesboro, VA
22980

Now, don't go sending us mail there yet..... not till June. :)

Also, we are going to go sometime this week and pick out cabinets, formica, knobs, and shutter colors from The Contractor Yard in Verona. While I'm excited, I know I'll get stressed out when we are actually there picking the stuff. So I think I'll see if my mom can come along for some motherly advice. Any suggestions are welcome! I plan on taking plenty of pictures so check back this weekend for that! Please continue to pray that everything will go smoothly as we are quickly moving towards being homeowners!

Progress

We went out to the house this evening to check out the progress, and we have plumbing! All the "rough" plumbing is in, and both of the bathtubs are installed. We also checked the house next door because we are thinking they are about a week ahead on that one, so we wanted to see what they would be doing next to ours. Well, they have the drywall done on that one, so hopefully this week, we will get drywall. That will really make it exciting, since it begins to really look like a house once it has drywall. I can't wait to post pictures of that!

Also, 3 years ago today, Anthony and I officially became a "couple". It's amazing to look back and see where we have been and how far we have come in 3 years. I feel so blessed to have this life and we are looking forward to seeing where the next 3 years lead us! :)

I'm Going to be an Aunt again.... well kind of :)

There was some excitement from our spring break that I couldn't reveal until now.... my best friend Amanda is pregnant!!! We went out to dinner with them and Amanda's parents on Friday evening of spring break and that's when she told me the news, but I wasn't able to say anything till now because everyone didn't know. But I am estatic to say the least! She is due November 17, which is Zoe's birthday. I am convinced that it will be a little girl and I cannot wait to hold her (or him) in my arms! It seems so strange that my best friend is having a baby, and makes me realize that we are actually adults! Anyways, pray for Amanda and baby that everything would go well and that baby will be healthy! Check out their link on my page for updates. Yay for babies!

SOLD!

After a week of being away from home, I was dying to see what they had done with "our" house since we had been gone. So as soon as we left Mom's after church today, we went out to Northwood. I expected to see an "Under Contract" sign, but this is what we saw instead...

So I would say, techinically, it's still under contract since we haven't finished taking care of the loan stuff, but I guess they just know we mean business! :) We were very excited to find that.

We were also very pleased to see that all the wiring seems to be done. They also had vents punched into the floors. I've never been happier to see a bunch of wires!

Finally, we walked to the very back of our lot. Here is a picture from that point. Love the big yard!

Also, the house next door to ours is sold as well, so it looks like we have neighbors! Hopefully they are nice people! ;) Our next step at this point, is to get everything together to send to Navy Federal Credit Union to get the loan in place. Bobby-Anne should be back in her office on Tuesday, so we can fax the contract to NFCU. So pray for us this week that everything will go smoothly and quickly getting the loan into place. Exciting days are ahead!

Spring Break

Hello.... finally time for an update. Just last night we got back from a wonderful week of vacation with Anthony's family in Virginia Beach. We were very lazy and enjoyed every minute of it! We did do a few productive things however....

It took about 3 hours and lots of sweat, but Anthony installed this beautiful celing fan in the dining room for his mom. I liked it so much, I think I want to get the same one for my dining room at the new house! His parents treated us to Olive Garden for all his hard work. :)

On Wednesday morning, Anthony and I went to the beach for a while. It was a little chilly at times with the breeze, but it was really nice because there were so few people there! We walked down the beach a ways and then further on the boardwalk. We enjoyed the fresh ocean air, and the time together as well!

On April 9, Anthony's nephew Kevin, will turn 4 so we celebrated his 4th birthday on Saturday at Jon and Sam's place. Kevin got lots of great gifts (Isaac even got a few too!) and we were finally able to spend some time with the WHOLE family together. Happy Birthday Kev!

Unfortunately, our spring break is almost ending. Only a few precious more hours before we get back to the normal schedule. What a wonderful benefit of being teachers though, to get to have vacations at the same time! We are ready to get back into full swing and make it through the home stretch of the school year and into the summer. We know God has great things in store for us!

Spring Break!

Hello-- just wanted to give a quick update. The final contract should be on its way (or already there) in the mail to our realtor's office. We are in Virginia Beach with Anthony's parents this whole week, and Bobby-Anne is on vacation in the Bahamas, so everything is kind of on hold for a week, which is okay. They did take the house off the MLS listing site on the Internet, so that is a good sign for us! We may need to make one tiny revision to the contract regarding the additional money for the hardwood floors, but I think that will be the end of that. Once we do get the final contract, then we can get the ball rolling with the mortgage stuff. I think we have just about everything ready to give them that they need, so hopefully everything will go fast once we get the contract done.

On another note, this whole week we are on Spring break! As I said before, we are in Virginia Beach staying with Anthony's parents. It is always nice to be here, as we don't get to see them and Anthony's brothers and families as much as we would like. It's also so nice just to have a week break away from school. We have no real plans for the week. A little shopping and taking it easy mostly.

Lastly, please pray for the Leino family. She is a friend of a friend and they are facing a very difficult time right now. Here is a link to their blog:
