Harrisonburg

Today was a good day. Bailey and I napped together this morning. I LOVE when we cuddle up and take a nap together. There's hardly anything better than that. I don't even care that I am encouraging not taking naps in the crib. Because of a few events over the past year (Tyson's cancer, Colton passing away), I feel like I have such good perspective on motherhood most of the time. Things that may normally cause me stress, don't. I am just so thankful to God for this amazing little girl he has given us. Anyways, that was totally a rabbit trail. :)

So we napped this morning, and then went to Walmart for some groceries this afternoon. She is in a convertible car seat now, so the baby carrier is tucked away in the shed until the next babe comes along. That was sad when I put that away. :( (Another rabbit trail). So she sits up in the cart when we go in stores now. And she was just a perfect angel in the store. She really wanted to get her little paws on my grocery list, and did once or twice while I was trying to get her in the car. The paper must taste good. :) Or maybe she can imagine what the foods taste like that I have written down. Haha.

Oh, and when I was at Walmart, in the parking lot, trying to get Bailey out of the car to go in, one of those guys who claims to be "deaf" with the little cards asking for money or whatever came and handed me a card. I took it and laid it on the seat and proceeded to get Bailey out, hoping he would see I was busy with a baby and just leave me alone. Nope. He just stood there. Waiting on me. So I turn around and try to "tell" him that I can't do anything, I am busy with a baby, etc. So he points at the card trying to tell me that he wants it back. So I hand it back to him and he snatches it away. Grrrr. And wait, the best part it still coming. He was smoking a cigarette. I really wish I had asked him if I gave him money, would he go buy cigarettes with it? Not that he could have heard me, supposedly. Anyways, whether he was really deaf or not, he was a jerk. Anybody else had any experiences with these guys?

When Anthony got home from school we headed to Harrisonburg. We ate a Chic-Fil-A first, always a treat since we don't have one here. Then we stopped at Old Navy, hoping to find some shorts for Anthony, but no such luck. Then we headed to Eastern Mennonite University for LIFT camp. We didn't get to stay the entire time because it was getting late, but we had a really good time and Bailey was so good. I really enjoy spending time with the kids in the youth group. We have some really great kids who really impress me in their walk with God at such a young age. I know that 3 kids from our group got saved on Monday night, and I'm sure God has been doing other incredible things in our group since then. I always loved camp and have so many good memories from all the camps I went to, so I hope it is the same for all these kids.

Well, I am working tomorrow, which I'm not excited about, but I keep telling myself, it's good for us, to get us some extra money, and it's only for the summer, and then I'll be back to spending every day at home with little girl. Then Friday morning we are heading to VA Beach. Anthony's grandfather is going to be visiting and I have not met him yet! So we're excited about the weekend.

Now, I am beat, so I'm off to bed!

Catch-Up

Wow... I have been slacking big time! Let's see if I can remember the past couple weeks. Saturday before last we had a yard sale at Mom's. They are always fun and we did okay. Regular Sunday. Monday we went with Mom and Zoe to the preschool story time at the library. Even though it's not directed toward babies, Bailey still had a fun time. She really likes watching other kids. Then we got some lunch and came back to my house for a while. Then we checked out a new park just a few minutes down the road from us. It was pretty nice and it's not the "main" park so we were the only people on the playground for most of the time. The inmates were there doing some cleaning up though. Haha. Then I worked for a couple hours on Tuesday afternoon, and most of the day on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday we were all home and we ran to Lowe's and got some stuff for our yard. Saturday we had a yardsale here, which was pretty much a flop for me. I made like $7, haha. Oh well. We decided we won't be doing anymore yardsales at our house. We also made ribs on the grill Saturday evening for Anthony's Father's Day dinner. Sunday was Anthony's first father's day. Bailey got him a neat travel mug from snapfish that has pictures of the two of them on it. She also made him a really cute card. We also got ice cream from Dairy Queen and got dinner from Sheetz to celebrate Father's Day.

That brings us to this week. Monday I was home and Anthony worked (Monday is his day to be at the school for tutoring if kids need help with their online summer school). I picked up a couple of kids to take them to church to leave for camp and then we went to Mom's and had lunch. Then we all went to Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton. That is definitely the best park around. I wish that one was in Waynesboro. It is way bigger, has multiple playgrounds, and cool duck/fish pond, and lots of shade. Yesterday I worked all day.

Today Anthony is going to school for a while and Bailey and I are staying home. When Anthony gets home we are heading to Harrisonburg and we're going to eat dinner at Chic-Fil-A and then go to the evening service at Lift Camp. I'm really excited about that. Hopefully Bailey is good while we are there!

Speaking of Bailey, for about the past week to two weeks, she has really been sitting up good on her own. I can't believe how big she is getting. She also sleeps unswaddled now. Not sure if I had mentioned that yet or not. I will put up some pictures soon hopefully. Now, I'm off to enjoy the day with my girl!

Freedom!

Is it just me, or is that little Lilypie baby up there moving at an incredibly fast speed?

We are all home today and it is fabulous! We got up a little after 8 this morning, then Bailey and I took a nap from 9:30 to about 10:45 while Daddy worked outside getting some rocks out of the yard so he can mow more easily in some spots. Now Bailey is chilling in the exersaucer, watching some Price is Right and we're about to get lunch.

This afternoon we're going to Anthony's school for him to do a couple of things and then to Target to pick up some things (swim diapers, swimsuit cover up for me, and check out the clearance aisle for killer bargains of course). Then I think we'll pop in for a visit at Mom's and then church tonight.

I worked yesterday and I will work tomorrow. It wasn't too bad for me, I wasn't sitting there worrying all day long. And it went pretty well for Anthony too. She was good except she didn't even finish a whole bottle (I had thawed 2 bags of milk, hoping that would be enough), but we are wondering if she really was protesting and wanting Mom, or if she is just starting to wean some (sniff, sniff). She is eating solids at lunch and dinner now, so I guess it is possible, and probable, she will cut back on nursing some. I didn't expect for it to make me sad, but it is. Oh well, such is life.

Anyways, I'm off to get some lunch now and totally enjoy our family time! :)

Fun Day

We had a GREAT day yesterday. We were going to go to the park with Mom and Zoe, but the weather was yucky, so we made alternate plans. First, we went to Burger King for lunch since they have a play place. Then we went to Target, Kohl's, and Petsmart. I didn't find anything at Kohl's, but I got some great deals at Target: Pampers diapers for 14 cents a piece and Gerber 2nd foods for 27 and 37 cents!!! I was so happy about those. Then we had a lot of fun at Petsmart, especially watching the birds and this one funny little hamster. Zoe LOVES going to the pet store.

It was such a fun afternoon and really makes me look forward to the rest of the summer!

"I Hit a Kid"

So I just had to share this funny little story from church tonight. The kids were all split up according to their grade, and we were with the group going into 10th grade next year. We had certain questions we were supposed to discuss about the past school year. One of the questions was something like "What was your most memorable moment this past year?" or something like that. Well Anthony said "I had a kid." But I heard "I hit a kid." So I'm like "You did? Did you tell me about that?" And Anthony and all the kids are looking at me like I am crazy. But no one realized where the "communication breakdown" was, because this went on probably 10 or 15 seconds before we figured out what was going on. I just couldn't believe he would do that and that I didn't know about it.... until someone repeated that he said "I HAD a kid".

Ohhhhh... that makes much more sense! They were all like, ummm, you were there, right? Haha. It was so funny I was laughing till I almost cried.

Bingo and a Good Night/Day

I forgot to blog about my Saturday evening. I'm sure you remember me blogging about my friend Malisa and her baby son Colton who passed away when he was 10 days old because he had a genetic disease? Well, her sister-in-law organized a Vera Bradley/Longaberger Bingo to raise money to help them with the medical and funeral expenses. I can't even imagine how much money something like that must cost, and then, to not have a baby to bring home after all that....

Anyways, it was a really fun time and there was a lot of people there, so I'm hoping they made a lot of money. Mom, Ashley, & Zoe came too, and none of us won anything, but I'm so glad we could contribute to their cause. Again, makes me so extremely thankful that I have a healthy little girl.

Speaking of that little girl, Bailey slept from 9:30ish to after 5:00 this morning! Wow! And I actually didn't wake up till around 5:00 and realize she hadn't been up yet. So it was good because I wasn't up like 3 times checking on her. She has been sleeping in a miracle blanket that I've been borrowing from Dawn (Amanda's sister), but amazingly enough, our little escape artist, manages to get herself out of that as well. When I went and fed her at around 5:10, she had gotten one arm out and maybe a foot (can't really remember) and had flipped herself over on her belly. Silly girl. But oh well, she slept for 7 1/2 hours straight, so I'm not complaining!

She didn't want to go back to sleep in the crib after I fed her, so she came in bed with me and I slept like a rock till she woke up about 8:00. So we had a really good night last night. :) The rest of today was good as well. We took a nap this morning then got ready for the day and had lunch. We went on a walk this afternoon and Bailey fell asleep while we were walking so when we got back home I parked her on the porch and pulled some weeds. When Anthony got home we made our grocery run to WalMart. They had Bryer's ice cream for $2.00 -- woohoo! So we made milkshakes tonight. :)

Well, I am going to get myself headed to bed. Going to work some tomorrow and my wonderful mom is going to watch Bailey for me. I am luck to have a such a great mom! :)
