4 Month Well Visit

Okay, here's the scoop on our doctor visit yesterday.

She is 16 pounds 15 ounces - 90 to 95 percentile

24 inches long - 25 to 50 percentile

16 3/4 inches head circumference - 75 to 90 percentile

Still fat and short, haha. But she is very healthy, everything looked good he said. She got two shots, and I cried way more than she did. She only cried when the nurse was actually sticking her, then she was done crying. I thought I might be able to make it without crying this time, but no such luck. Maybe next time, since it was so easy for HER this time. :)

I also told Dr. Gunther how she has been waking up about every 2 hours (or less) at nights for about the past 3 weeks. He said I could try cereal before bedtime, and to just let her cry till she gets to 3 hours, which is about how often she eats during the day.

Soooo, last night she slept 3 hours and 15 minutes in her first stretch, then I nursed her and tried to lay her down 3 times and she woke up each time. So I let her cry. And cry and cry and cry. From 1:45 till after 4:00. Towards the end of the time she finally found her fingers to suck on, but she still cried. I got her up at that time since it had been 3 hours and put her in bed with me just so we both could sleep.

I'm not even sure what to do now. I think I'll keep trying for a week probably but who knows if I'll actually make it that long. It's really frustrating and I wish there was just one concrete, right answer that I knew would work.

But in happy news, she rolled from her back to belly for the first time this morning!

4 Months Old

My baby turned 4 months old yesterday. In some ways, it has flown by, in other ways, it's been the longest 4 months of my life! But she is so enjoyable, and so delicious, if I may say that of a baby. :) I mean her rolls.... they are just so cute, and there are many of them. It's too bad fat rolls don't stay cute!

Anyhow, the past few weeks have been pretty rough as far as sleeping at night goes. I don't know what happened, she had been doing decently, and then all of a sudden, it's like she is up at least every 2 hours.... ugh. So I have resorted to bringing her into bed with us at some point in the night, the point where I can hardly walk a straight line to her room. I swear, that kid would lay in bed all day and sleep if she could have the breast available to her at all times! Haha. So I'm sure I'm encouraging bad habits, but I'm doing what I need to survive.

So with the bad sleeping thing in mind, I decided to bite the bullet and give her cereal last night to see if it would help her sleep any better. She did wonderfully with the cereal, much better than they usually do on the first try, I think. She seemed to like it and defintely got more in her belly than she did on her face and bib. She was actually falling starting to fall asleep in her chair (hmmm.. just occured to me, maybe I should let her sleep in her high chair at night, since she apparently can fall asleep there! jk). So I had nursed her some, fed her cereal, then nursed her again, and she went down pretty easily, compared to what she has been doing. She didn't seem to sleep any longer or better than she has been, but it was easier getting her to stay asleep for the first stretch, so that's progress. She didn't finish all the cereal I had made because she was falling asleep, so I'm hoping if she eats more, maybe the sleep time will increase.

It's a little sad to see her growing up, but I'm mostly happy about it. Let's be honest, the only really fun thing about tiny babies, is how tiny and cute they are. Now she is interacting, and can entertain herself long enough for me to get things done, so I'm enjoying this stage more.

Bailey goes to the doctor tomorrow for her 4 month checkup and shots :(. Hopefully I can handle it better this time than I did last time. I'm also going to ask the doctor what to do about the bad sleeping and see if he has any suggestions for me. I have pictures to upload, so I'll post those once I get that done, and I'll let you know how the doctor visit goes tomorrow!

Weekend and Summer Plans

I am trying to remember what we did this weekend... it was obviously eventful, right??

Let's see... Friday evening we rented Twilight and watched that, since I finished the book last week. I am addicted for sure. The book was definitely better than the movie, however. I am on the second book now, and enjoying that one even more than the first. If I didn't have a baby to tend to, I'm sure I'd have this book done already!

Saturday, Anthony did school work and I got some things done around the house. I'm proud of myself for my increasing productivity with a baby around now. It was SO hard at first to get anything done. My bathroom did not get cleaned for 5, count them, 5, weeks after she was born! Disgusting to think what nasty germs were festering in there.... oh well. Anyways, she is getting more independent, therfore, it is getting easier to get things done around the house. Finally. Then Saturday evening, we ate dinner at T-Bone Jack's. Yum. I had chicken tenders, and I just have to say I love their ranch dressing. I don't know what kind it is, but I need to find out, so I can buy that kind.

Sunday was church and Mom's for lunch. Then Mom, Ashley, Ashley's friend Jen, and I went to play Vera Bradly/Longaberger bingo. None of us won any bingos, but Ashley won the big raffle prize, which was a Longaberger Blanket Basket (valued at $184, just the basket by itself!) filled with all kinds of bath and body works type stuff. And she only paid $20 for raffle tickets, so she won out big time. We always have a good time when we play bingo, even if we don't win. Oh, and Anthony kept Bailey and Zoe, so we got to have just adult time, with no kiddies around. What a great hubby I have! When we got home, I asked him if that was a good exercise in birth control for him! Haha. He said Bailey is easy compared to Zoe. She just loves to play with him and he is so great with her. I know he will love it when Bailey is a little older and can play with him like Zoe does.

And I just want to say how excited I am for this summer. After 3 years of teaching, Anthony is basically taking a summer off! He will be working with the summer school type thing that Waynesboro is doing, but that will only require 4 hours, one day a week for him. So I will probably end up working 2 days a week, at least that's what I'm hoping for. So that will give us 4 days a week to be all together. I am hoping to plan the days I work around the days Mom is working, so we can go to the park, the pool, the library, and whatever other fun things might come up. I am just SO excited to have Anthony home and I can barely wait for summer to get here. I know I am going to get spoiled and will be so sad when school rolls back around in August.

You've come a long way baby!

Today marks one year since I found out I was pregnant. What a day that was! We had been trying for a few months, so I was elated to see the two pink lines. It's hard to believe that just a year ago, Bailey was just a tiny little embryo, newly created by God's hands. I am so thankful for what the past year has brought us, and look forward to seeing her grow and mature in the future!

Falling Apart

So last Wednesday was a doosie of a day! First, our cable and internet wasn't working right. They were going in and out of working, and when it was working, the cable was skipping and being fuzzy and weird. Not a huge deal, but annoying. Then I realize our heat is not working right, again (we had a problem with it back in November). It wasn't keeping up with the temperature I had it set at, and the unit wasn't even turning on, so our house was only staying warm because of the auxilary heat. And if that wasn't enough for one day, on the way to church, the ABS and brake lights in the jeep came on, and when we tried to start it to come home, it had trouble starting. This put me over the edge and I cried.... which was okay cause it had been a while (I'm not having baby related cries anymore really, yay me!), but I was like "are you kidding me?". I can't believe all these things in ONE DAY!

Soooo, Anthony called Ntelos and they came on Thursday afternoon, replaced a few things, and got the cable and internet working again. And as a bonus, he programmed the Ntelos remote to turn the tv on and off now, so we only have one remote instead of two! Yay! Problem #1: Solved.

On Wednesday night I talked to our friend Gary from church, who does heat & AC stuff, and he came on Thursday evening and found that we had some kind of part that was bad on the unit, and replaced that for us. Anthony paid him $90 (the part was $35). That's what it cost last time we had a problem, and I'd much rather pay him than someone I don't know. Problem #2: Solved.

Then.... Anthony called a place to set up an appointment for the jeep, and he got it for Monday, yesterday. Got it back today, turns out we had 2 sensors that were bad. One was the cam sensor (?) and I don't know what the other was. That was about $406.... grr. But it was only $65 in labor, so at least it wasn't parts that were hard to replace and took a lot of labor. At least we have the jeep paid off, so that's only like 1 and 1/3 months worth of payment. Got the jeep back today, running fine now. Problem #3: Solved!

So hopefully we have had our share of things going wrong for a while!

VA Beach Trip

Last weekend we went to VA Beach for a long weekend to visit Anthony's family. We went on Friday and Bailey was great - she slept the whole trip! We stopped in Newport News to see Jon & Sam and the boys, including new little Timothy. He is so tiny, and I have such a hard time remembering Bailey ever being that little, even though it was only 3 months ago!

It's amazing how much they grow in the first year. We got on the scale tonight to see how much she weighs now, and she is almost 16 pounds, close to double her birth weight. Aren't you glad we don't double our weight every 4 months? Haha. Anyways, back to my story.

So we got to Anthony's parents' house late Friday night. Saturday we went to the yard sale at Matt & Amanda's church. I got a couple of shirts, and we both got some of the amazing pizza they were selling. Then after lunch, Chris, Laura, Elena, and Laura's parents came over to visit for a while. Elena is such a cutie, and crawling around like a pro! Then later that afternoon, the rest of the family came over (it takes too long to name everyone now, haha!).

Sunday we went to church and I put Bailey in the nursery. That was harder since I don't know everyone there, but luckily, a couple I do know was in the nursery during the service, so I know she was taken good care of (I'm sure she would have been no matter who was in there). Then Sunday after church, Jon & Sam, Jeremy & Brynn, and families came over and we had lots of fun, as usual. It was nice, because we didn't have to rush off Sunday afternoon like we usually do, since Anthony's spring break was this week. We ended up skipping church Sunday evening, I think we were all beat.

Then Monday morning, we headed over to Matt & Amanda's to spend some time with them and Lily. We hung out at their house for a little bit, and then went to Chili's for lunch. Then we went back to their house to hang out for a little while longer and then we headed out in the afternoon.

Here are a few picture from the weekend:

Amanda had Bailey giggling like crazy! She has never laughed so much for me, and I still can't get her to do it, even when I imitate what Amanda was doing! I guess Amanda just looks funny or something.... just kidding! :) But it was so hillarious. It almost bring me to tears to see her so happy.

A shot of all the cousins, minus Elena and Timothy.

Anthony and I, holding baby Timothy.

And Bailey taking a bath at Grammy's house. I think she really liked taking a bath sitting up. I think she looks like she is relaxing in a jacuzzi in this pic!

Behind Again!

I'm such a huge blogging slacker lately! I guess I'm just too busy playing with Bailey. :)

Last week went well. I had a great time on Thursday with the girls. We went to Red Lobster. It was just great to have some "girlfiend' time. And Bailey and her daddy did just fine together. Then Friday I worked for about 6 hours or so, and Bailey stayed with Ashley and her Ganny. Ashley said she was just smiles all day long, so I was glad to hear that.

Over the weekend she seemed a little more fussy than usual, but she seems back to her normal self, so I'm not sure if her stomach was upset, or if she is starting to teethe, or what. But I'm glad the happy Bailey is back. :)

Yesterday I worked about 3 hours in the afternoon and will do the same thing Thursday. I am dropping her off with mom at 3:00 when she is not so busy at work and then I pick her up at the house when I'm done. I've also been doing some work at home, so that's been nice.

This weekend we are going to VA Beach to visit Anthony's family. Oh and I forgot to mention the biggest news! Bailey is no longer the baby in the family. Timothy James Tyler was born on Sunday morning. Jon and Sam now have their hands even more full with 3 boys! We are really excited to see him this weekend.

Well, I suppose I'm going to go get some lunch. Bailey is sleeping right now, so I'm waiting on her to wake up so I can put her in the bouncy seat in the bathroom so I can take a shower. I am so glad we get to have a normal day at home together today!
